Ed Goldberg writes Revit Architecture 2011 book

Revit Architecture 2011: A Comprehensive Guide, by H. Edward Goldberg, AIA, NCARB, was recently released by publisher Pearson Education, a subsidiary of Prentice Hall, and an Autodesk Design Institute Press publisher. This publication is Mr. Goldberg’s tenth in as many years. He began writing on Architectural Desktop (renamed Autodesk Architecture) in 2000 and migrated to Revit in 2009. The 2011 book is Mr. Goldberg’s third Revit publication.

About Revit

REVIT Architecture is leading edge CAD software for architects; it is Building Information Model (BIM) capable, technology widely adopted by the architectural profession. As Ed states in the book’s foreword, “I believe that Revit has reached a level of maturity that makes it one of the most viable BIM, 3D modeling software programs available”. Ed has been using the program in his architectural practice since 2009.  Ed office has previously used AutoCAD Architecture, ADT, AutoCAD, and pencil and velum. As a working professional, lecturer and trainer, he recommends it for ease of use.

ITT Utilizes Goldberg’s Texts

For the past six years, Mr. Goldberg’s books have been the sole ADT & Revit texts utilized by the ITT Technical Institute, a leader in the CAD training field. ITT operates 100 locations nationwide and offers an Associate of Arts Degree in Architecture construction and Computer Aided Design and Drafting. ITT faculty commented on the comprehensive scope of the works and the value of the tutorial exercises in facilitating learning.

Mr. Goldberg is a practicing, licensed architect, hands-on user, industry analyst and (former) Community college and University professor. His user friendly, tutorial format books have been embraced equally by both educators and professionals.

Real World Application

Because Revit Architecture 2011 is written by an architect, for architects, architectural draftsmen and students, it emphasizes real world application in the learning process. Focusing on a work-flow methodology and covering the tools most necessary to build skills incrementally and cumulatively, it allows the user to become productive quickly. The hands-on tutorial text facilitates independent, self-paced learning. The final chapter, “Putting It All Together”, a comprehensive building tutorial, based on a real-world project, pulls together all of the cumulative knowledge gained by completing the previous exercises.
